The Foreign Languages Section of the Institute for Liberal Arts (ILA) is responsible for foreign language education throughout Tokyo Institute of Technology, and conducts research on foreign languages and cultures. We are dedicated to helping students from various countries attain high levels of applied foreign language abilities, thus empowering them to learn from one another across borders and cultures as is required in this age of international collaboration and joint research. We aim to promote intercultural understanding among all students at Tokyo Tech.

    As of April 2016, the former Foreign Languages Research and Teaching Center became a section within the newly established Institute for Liberal Arts.

    Maintaining our essential role in the research and teaching of foreign languages and cultures at Tokyo Tech, we will continue our multifaceted activities as one of the sections that enable the new liberal arts curriculum.
